Please contact elizabeth.jimenez@beebefund.org for more information. Application and instructions can be found at www.beebefund.org. Fellowships are awarded to musicians at the outset of their professional lives, for whom this would be the first extended period of study abroad. Applicants must demonstrate a solid base of accomplishment in order to be considered and are generally not older than their mid-20s. A strong, well-planned project of study that will enhance the applicant's life in music must be proposed. Enrollment in a school or university is not required unless such study is an essential part of the project. Music and Letters Grants from Oxford Journals
    http://www.oxfordjournals.org/musicj/grants.html
The Music & Letters Trust makes awards twice a year, in January and July, in order to support musical research. Sums awarded recently have ranged from £50 to £1500, with most falling between £250 and £750. Support has been given for the obtaining of research materials (such as photographs and microfilms), editorial costs (e.g. translations, reproduction rights), and expenses for research trips and conference attendance, as well as costs associated with conference organization. (The costs of concerts at conferences are considered for support only if the concert can be regarded, in the opinion of the Trust, as analogous to a paper by an invited speaker or as the illustration to an actual paper.)
Funds are not available for research towards a degree. Applications from students, however, are welcomed for such purposes as conference attendance and for research expenses not directly related to the production of a thesis. All applicants should provide detailed and fully costed proposals, together with information about any other funding received or applied for.

    Music Performance Fund
    http://www.musicpf.org/
MPF supports programs which are often the only source of live music in the communities in which they take place. MPF is the largest single sponsor of live music in the world. A main objective of the Fund in recent years has been support of music education in the schools. As federal, state and municipal funding for music education in public schools has declined, MPF has increased its commitment to filling the void. Repeated studies have shown that exposure to music enhances a child's ability to read and learn. It has been shown to improve vocabulary, concentration, enhance problem solving skills and study habits, and encourage cooperation. At present, 25% of our available funds are earmarked for in-school programs.
